Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President Donald Trump on Wednesday and told him that “there was no discussion between India and the US on a business deal or a mediation between India and Pakistan”.
Saying that “after a conversation between Indian and Pakistan’s current channels in the ceasefire army” and “on Pakistan’s request”, PM Modi told Trump that “India has not accepted any arbitration in the past, currently not accepted it and will not accept it in future”, Misri said during a recitation of calls. Modi also told him that there is a national political consent on this issue of arbitration.
“The two leaders were scheduled to meet in Canada, but they could not meet. Therefore, at the request of President Trump, there was a call that lasted for about 35 minutes,” Missary said.
The Foreign Secretary said that Trump also asked Modi to stay in the US, but the Prime Minister cited the prior commitments-he is on his way to Croatia as part of his three-nation journey-and could not come.
According to Misri, President Trump understood PM Modi’s details about the sequence of events during Operation Sindoor, and he expressed support for India’s fight against terrorism. Modi told him about his conversation with Vice President JD Vance, and how India had an operation against Pakistan, which made his aerial status inactive, and Islamabad asked for a ceasefire.
“PM Modi said that India does not consider terrorism as a proxy war, but as a war, and India’s up vermilion is still on,” Misri said.
The two leaders discussed the conflict between Israel and Iran, he said. On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he said that the two leaders agreed that both sides should talk directly for peace, and efforts should be made to enable it.

On Indo-Pacific, Misri stated that the two leaders shared their views on the situation and supported the important role played by the Quad. Misri said, “PM Modi invited President Trump for the next meeting of the Quad Leaders Summit in India, and President Trump accepted the invitation and said he was keen to come to India.”
The two leaders agreed to meet soon.
