After more than two weeks of New Delhi and Islamabad, the neighbor Pakistan of four Indian states and two center regions conducted a simulation exercise on Saturday for air strikes, drone attacks and preparation for other war -scenarios. Emergency response teams practiced rescue operations as part of the Civil Defense Mock Drill under Operation Shield in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Chandigarh.
During the days after Operation Sindoor, under which India attacked 11 terrorist sites Within Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir, border states saw huge border shelling and drone attacks.
Emergency preparation drills were initially scheduled for May 29, postponed for administrative reasons. A government press release reiterated the importance of exercise, especially to discontinue the significant intervals identified during the previous nationwide drill held on 7 May.
A series of Saturdays was followed on Saturday to evaluate the preparations for civil and emergency response systems. These included air red sirens, blackout protocols and coordinated emergency response actions. Drills aimed at repeating real -life scenarios that may arise from potential external threats, especially in areas located near the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB).
What happened under Operation Shield:
Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh: A large number of civil defense volunteers participated in mock drills held in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Blackout rehearsal was done with the shutdown of power supply at many places. The volunteers also worked as the scenarios where the injured would need to be taken to the ambulance through the stretcher.

Trained volunteers of Civil Defense, National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) also participated in practice.

A major attraction of Operation Shield was a massive participation of around 10,000 civil defense volunteers, who worked in close coordination with the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Home Guards and National Service Scheme (NSS).

Jammu and Kashmir: As part of the mock drill held in the Kashmir Valley, a blackout was seen from 8 pm to 8:15 pm as the lights of government buildings, houses and business establishments were discontinued. Officials said that in Srinagar, the lights were closed at the center of the LAL Chowk city, including the historic Ghar (Clock Tower). He said that business activities, movement of vehicles and regular operations were prevented for a period of 15 minutes.

State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF), Health Department, Fire and Emergency Services experts and personnel participated in practice by a large number of students and local people.
Gujarat: Mock drills were organized and Blackouts were implemented In 18 districts of Gujarat, including Rajkot, Kutch, Patan, Morbi, Banskantha, Chhota Udaipur and Nadiad.
“In Ahmedabad, a civil defense mock drill was organized at Sadar Bazar Cantonment in Shahibagh. Under these exercises, volunteer gathering, air raid simulation, communication system activation, blackout protocols, blood donation camps, blood donation camps and withdrawal processes were organized,” an official release said.

Rajasthan: A mock drill, imitating an airstrike from hostile actors, took place at a school in Khatipura near Jaipur, where emergency response teams practiced rescue operations. Civil Defense and SDRFS activated the emergency response protocol, which applies volunteers as injured in nearby hospitals.
During the drill in Jaipur, people were simulated as getting stuck on the roofs after an airstrikes. Rescue teams used cranes to safely vacate them.
