Six migrant workers of Borwa village in Jharkhand’s Jharkhand were allegedly abducted soon after reaching Tamil Nadu for work on 16 July.
Officials said that only one train was abolished by youths between the ages of 20 to 21 and had a route to go to a job site, when they were reportedly abducted by a local gang, which appeared as an attempt to be forced to recover a predetermined recovery, said the officials said. Jamtara MLA and State Health Minister Irfan Amsari took cognizance of the case.
According to his office, the kidnappers identified young men as migrants on their body language and bid, after which the gang allegedly misled and forcibly took the group into a bus.
“Later, the kidnappers made a video call to the families of the victims, threatened to kill the youth, if a ransom was not paid. Holding the pistol around their head and knife around their neck, the gang demanded an initial payment of Rs 2.5 lakhs. They forced the families to transfer Rs 30,000 first, after which the villagers with the help of the villagers, then they forced the families to transfer Rs 30,000 first.
He said, “These families are very poor. So boys went out of the state to work. They got nervous and whatever they could do,” they said. “If this issue did not come into our notice in time, it could have ended in the tragedy.”

The MLA proceeded the matter and informed the Chief Secretary, Tamil Nadu DGP and Jharkhand DGP.
Rapid coordination between Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand officials was ensured Intense Action. The Tamil Nadu police already withdrew cash using ATMs by the kidnappers and released the youth near Salem railway station.

According to official information, the rescued youth were later brought to the Salem Police Station, and arrangements are being made to safely bring them back to Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, the police have recorded statements of some men, who also used the phones stolen by the kidnappers to their mobile devices.
Azharuddin said that one of the men managed to call a family with someone else’s phone and confirmed that he was safe. “This is that the police were able to track their location.”
“The incident could have been frightening if the action was delayed even for 15 or 20 minutes,” he said. “It is a matter of serious concern and questions the safety of migrant workers in the destination states.”
Jharkhand’s DGP, Anurag Gupta told The Indian Express that with the Tamil Nadu police and administration cooperation, he successfully saved men on Monday and expected to bring them home in the coming days.
