The AXIOM-4 mission to take Shubanshu Shukla of India and three others to the international space station, now will now be launched in India on 25 June on 25 June, 25 June. The mission has been delayed several times due to various reasons, including the problems found in the rocket, and the destination, discovered at the international space station, where astronauts have to stay for two weeks.
Bad weather has also contributed to the delay of launch which was originally scheduled for the first week of June.
The latest launch slot was announced by NASA on Tuesday morning. The mission is being managed and operated by a private American company Axiom Space. It will use Falcon 9 rocket and crew dragon spacecraft created by SpaceX, the world’s largest private space unit. The mission is being done under the overall guidance of NASA that is encouraging private missions in the private sector into space, including the international space station, with the overall objective of construction capabilities in the private sector.
“Mission will be away from 39A launch complex at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The crew will travel to a revolving laboratory at a new spacex dragon spacecraft after launching the company on the Falcon 9 rocket. The targeted docking time (with the international space station) is around 7 pm, 26 June (4.30 am).
Apart from Shukla, the mission consists of astronauts from Poland, Hungary and the United States. Mission has planned more than 60 science experiments, studies and outreach activities during a period of two weeks.
