One of the crew members of the Air India flight, the body of Lamanunthm Singson, who crashed on June 12, arrived from Dimapur Airport in Nagaland in Kangpokpi district of Manipur late Thursday.
Catching candles, people in Kangpokpi city formed a human chain up to their residence. Her body was flown from Ahmedabad this afternoon after matching her DNA sample with one of her three brothers.
The body of Lamnunthem should have been brought to the Imphal Airport. The state had prepared to take it to Kangpokpi. The Coordination Committee on the integrity (COCOCMI) of Manipur, an impressive Meitei body, also announced its cooperation for safe transportation of the body.
However, the family chose to bring the body from Dimapur.
“The decision was taken by his family … We want to avoid unnecessary political overtones on the coffin of our deceased daughter,” said NG Lun Kipgen, one of Lamanunthm’s uncles.
Lamnunthem was one of the two crew members who were killed in an accident. The other 21 -year -old Naganthoi Sharma was from the Kongbiyalatpam Thubal Town.
