The 57 -year -old professor teaching in a college in Jabalpur was found dead in his residence on Friday afternoon, inspiring the police to initiate an investigation.
Professor Pragya Aggarwal, who taught botany at Home Science College in Jabalpur, was discovered with a cut mark on his hands and neck, police said they were investigating the circumstances around his death.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma, the authorities were informed about the domestic help of the professor, who arrived in the House for regular work.
Upon entering the house in Amber Vihar, the worker found that Professor Aggarwal was lifeless in a room, in which blood is scattered. The police were immediately informed, and a team was sent to the spot.
Investigators said that initial comments revealed cuts on the hands and neck of the deceased, increasing the suspicion of foul play. A forensic science laboratory team was called to assist in the investigation, and a detailed crime visual examination was conducted. The body has been sent to the Medical College for the post -mortem examination, the results of which are awaited to determine the cause of death.
“The police was informed about his death. Since the circumstances appeared suspicious, the FSL team was also called on the spot. A crime site was investigated, and the body was sent for post -mortem. We are trying to contact with his family to get more clarity,” said Sharma.
Police said Professor Aggarwal was unmarried and lived alone in his house. He was recently transferred from Jabalpur to Damoh. Police inquiries indicate that she sometimes receives visitors including neighbors. Domestic aid, which has worked for a professor for many years, told the police that he was given a key at home and visited two to three times daily to do domestic work.
