Twelve Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas will be designed to roll out by December this year, of which six have already been rolled down, government officials have said that Pravi has said for the latest developments.

Officials said GE Aerospace said it would distribute 10 engines by the end of this year.

“It takes about a month to integrate and test the engines. The process involves the construction of the first torso, then obtaining gender and piping, a combination of landing gear,” an officer explained, “an officer explained.

The delivery of LCA Tejas MK1A was scheduled to begin in March 2024, but delayed more than a year.

Timely induction of indigenous fighter jets, including Tejas MK1A, is important for wearing the declining squadron strength of the IAF. IAF has phased out most of its MIG-21 squadrons, and in the early next decade, it is likely to start phasing up other aging fighter squadron.

According to officials, HAL plans to produce 16 fighter jets next year, provided that the engine from the US is on delivery schedule. The original plans were to produce 16 aircraft every year and to produce complete delivery of all jets by 2030.

Tejas MK1A jets have several upgrade on Tejas MK1 version, with integration of AESA radar, advanced electronic warfare suit with a jammer, and beyond the visual range (BVR) capabilities with integration of darby and indigenous Sastra missile.

Officials said the trial for an indigenously manufactured Estra missile firing from the aircraft is currently underway.

Earlier this month, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh asked US Defense Secretary PT Hegaseth to speed up the delivery of GE F404 engines, which Tejas MK 1A.
