The ruling BJP of Tripura appeared on Thursday to fulfill the claims of allies Tipra Motha that its founder was humiliated by the Gomti District Magistrate refusing to meet him, and accused the opposition CPM and Congress of trying to win a brownie points out of the issue.
BJP state spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty said, “Congress and CPM are recently trying to give political color to an undesirable incident between Prideot Kishore Debarma and Gomti District Magistrate and are trying to score a browning points on this issue. They are making self-individual statements for the social government.”
Chakraborty’s comments came as a surprise as there was more tension between BJP and Tipra Motha in the last few days, especially during the shutdown seen by the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), the youth wing of the tribal party, against the presented insult against the alleged insult against the Adivasi Party’s Youth Wing, Pradot district against Pradot district and Tripura ADC against Pradot district in Gomti district.
The YTF visited the shutdown on 2 June and closed the office of Gomti District Magistrate, criticized the CPM and Congress, as Motha was opposed amidst a prevailing flood situation.
Chakraborty’s comments also came a day later when YTF threatened to increase the protests. “If no action is taken against the DM, we will start a statewide agitation next week. We will announce the details of our movement before launching it,” YTF president Suraj Deberma told reporters on Wednesday.

Political observers had admitted that the BJP would take a rigid stand, especially since it does not require Tipra Motha to maintain a majority in the assembly. The party has 33 MLAs in a 60 -member house.
Tipra Motha, which has 13 MLAs, served as a major opposition party for almost a year after the 2023 assembly elections, after which it changed the sides and joined the state government.

The BJP spokesperson said that Saffron Party, Tipra Motha and IPFT were committed to working collectively for the development of the state. Whatever he said was condemned that there were online efforts to create communal sentiments.

Asked about the YTF movement, Chakravarti said that the association was free to protest, but urged everyone to have faith in the Chief Minister.
His comments are considered important after the YTF movement that occurred for the government after a 96-hour time limit, which ended to take action against the Gomti District Magistrate.
A large number of NeTisens criticized the YTF movement, while thousands of people took refuge in relief camps. Many others supported the right to protest.
CPM MLA Chaudhary, who criticized Gomti District Magistrate’s refusal to meet the Production, also asked the YTF action to close the office undemocratic and illegally. “People had to suffer a lot due to the movement …” he said.
