Tripura Police Arrest 2 Unicoti Tea Garden mob lynching case | Bharat News

The Tripura police on Thursday arrested two people in connection with the lynching of a person in a tea garden in Kailashahar under Unakoti district.

“We brought three people for questioning at the police station. We registered a case against two of them and arrested them,” said an officer of Kailashar Police Station.

The police also held a meeting with the management and workers of the tea garden and assured them that no innocent person would have to undergo any harassment due to the investigation of the lynching case.

According to the police, three people, including the deceased, Pradeep Das, were lynching on Tuesday, their vehicles were seen taking goats on the roadside. As the trio was trying to escape, a group equipped with sticks tried to stop them. Trying to escape from the spot, the vehicle killed a tea garden worker and injured him. The vehicle then fell into a concrete drain, and Pradeep Das was caught and caught. The crowd set the vehicle on fire. Other people of the vehicle allegedly managed to protect themselves by hiding in a nearby forest.

In February, a 35 -year -old suspected thief was detained at least five people after killing an Irite mob in Belonia in South Tripura district.

In June 2021, three suspected cattle smugglers were brought to two separate places in Khwai district of Tripura.

The state government soon launched the Tripura Linching/mob violence victim compensation scheme, 2018 to help the victims of mob violence.

In July 2018, the state cabinet decided to implement the law by taking cu from an order of the Supreme Court, in which the apex court directed all the state governments to frame the rules to implement the plan within a month.

According to the rules of mob violence compensation, the state government has to pay Rs 4 lakh to the families of people who died in mob violence, and they have to pay Rs 2 lakh, who receive 80 percent of the handicapped, among others.
